Salma Hayek Welcomes Your ‘Hot’ Comments

Latest

When Salma Hayek first started out in Hollywood, she wasn’t too keen on the idea of being admired for her sizzlin’ looks. Now age 48 and the mother of a 7-year-old daughter, Hayek appreciates comments about her physical attributes. “Bring it on!” Hayek said, referring to her win for “Decade of Hotness,” at Spike TV’s Guy’s Choice Awards. “You really like to be ‘hot’ after you’re 40.”

After receiving attention for her role in Desperado, the 1995 film in which she co-starred with Antonio Banderas, Hayek first misconstrued the response. “My English was worse than now and I read the reviews that, ‘Salma Hayek was a bombshell,’ and to me this means that I was terrible, that I had bombed!” she told reporters at the event, according to People. “Everyone told me, ‘No, no, it means that you’re great, that you’re sexy!’ And [I was like], ‘That’s it? They didn’t talk about my acting?’” The Mexican-born actress, who recently spoke out against the mistreatment of women in Hollywood, also explained why being in love is an important force for hotness.

“You know makes you ‘hot’? When you have the hots for someone,” she said. “I have the hots for my husband, and that keeps you, I think that keeps that in you. When you like somebody it comes out of you, almost naturally, and you’re motivated. Love motivates you.” Hayek has been married to Francois-Henri Pinault, a French businessman, since 2009.
