Rick Santorum went on MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning where Joe Scarborough asked him if he regrets bringing the issue of contraception into his campaign. Rickles got flustered and turned pissy fast. He said, "I've never had any record or anything about talking about access to contraception." Umm. Not to cross you, oh Holy One, but YES YOU FUCKING DO.
In fact, that is a large part of what you've spent your campaign talking about. So please, spare us your indignation at Joe Scarborough, and for the love of God (and you do love God, don't you?), do not accuse Mike and Joe of "playing sort of gotcha politics," simply because they dare to ask you about things that have come out of your mouth.
By the end of the appearance, Santorum has been pushed to the edge of his patience, and has a little tantrum (a Santantrum!):
Come to any of my…now almost thousand town hall meetings, and let me assure you, I don't think the word contraception has ever come up except in the context of this HHS [issue]. Let's just deal with reality instead of what the media tries to do, which is to pigeonhole you and tell a narrative.
He then doubles down with, "The only reason I would talk about this issue, as I said, is with respect to government mandates of people of faith. That's why this issue continued to be talked about."
OK, let's deal with reality, as you suggest, Rickory Dickory Dock. The fact is that a) you've talked about the birth control (both mandated and not) and related issues until you're blue in the face and b) between your comments, and the comments of your backers, contraception—specifically your hatred of it—is the number one thing most of us, at least us ladies, associate with you. Does that upset you? Why don't you start crying like John Boehner? You're already approaching his level of tanning, so you might as well go for broke.
