Restaurant Proprietress Elaine Kaufman Dies at 81

Elaine Kaufman, whose legendary NYC restaurant Elaine’s attracted the likes of Mick Jagger and Woody Allen, has died from complications of emphysema. Besides running her restaurant, Kaufman appeared in movies, became a “living landmark,” and gave support to her patrons.
