Rep. Alan Grayson Accuses Estranged Wife of Bigamy in Divorce Trial

Latest

Love is a rough ride. Just ask Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Florida), whose divorce trial is finally set to begin today, and where he will accuse Lolita Grayson, his now-estranged wife of 24 years, of bigamy. The trial was previously delayed due to Lolita’s leaky breast implant, which required emergency surgery.

The congressman, 56, has argued in court filings that his marriage to Lolita should be annulled, claiming that she was married to another man when they were wed in Virginia in 1990. But Lolita, 54, says that she and first husband Robert Carson were divorced in Guam in 1981. This time last year Lolita also won a temporary restraining order against Rep. Grayson, accusing him of shoving her and telling her she’d win nothing in the divorce and be left “in the gutter.”

Lolita has claimed her husband is worth some $31 million. She has also argued that she is not the “Lolita B. Carson” mentioned in a dissolution of marriage document that Alan Grayson found in Florida’s Broward County. He claims that document is evidence that she was still married to Carson when she and Grayson were married. Neither of the Graysons has managed to locate Carson. The Florida-ness of all this really cannot be understated.
