Britain's National Archives is posting online records of crimes from the 18th and 19th centuries. At the beginning of this period, over 200 crimes were punishable by death, including forgery, wearing blackface, and "stealing from a rabbit warren." [TimesOnline]

We could sure use some harsh Eighteenth century British laws where a certain cat killer is concerned. I don't mean he deserves death, just that he deserves more than a slap on the wrist, a kick in the pants, or punch in the nose.
