Queen Latifah has cancelled a scheduled interview with Bill Cosby, as the rape allegations against the comedian resurface.
TMZ reports that because of Cosby's history, Queen Latifah and her producers didn't want the talk show to be associated with the comedian as he promotes his new comedy tour.
Bill Cosby's alleged rape of multiple women has been an open secret for years, but public discussion of the allegations have picked up steam recently. Notably, comedian Hannibal Buress called Cosby out as a rapist and wondered why we still allow him to be a pillar of respectability in the black community.
And it's even worse because Bill Cosby has the fucking smuggest old black man public persona that I hate. Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom. Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, brings you down a couple notches.
Cosby has not recently commented on the allegations—although he did settle a lawsuit with one woman on "undisclosed terms" some years back. However, if Queen Latifah's cancellation is any indication, the backlash may be mounting against the comedian, perhaps forcing him to finally address what actually happened.
