Proving what we've long been practicing, Chinese herbs have been found to be the most effective means of providing pain relief from menstrual cramps. In a study done on 3,475 women, the women were divided into groups, and each group was given only one of the following: Chinese herbal medicines, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, birth control pills, acupuncture, heat treatment from a hot water bottle, or a placebo. The group taking the Chinese herbal medicine group was found to have the most success than any of the others. A word to the wise: Peony and cinnamon cannot be beat when it comes to cramps. Seriously.
