As industry wide fights over California's porn condom law rage on, the Free Speech Coalition, a trade organization for the adult film industry, calls for a moratorium on production in light of an actress testing positive for HIV.
Cameron Bay, the 28-year-old actress who had several tests on different blood samples all confirming the same results, released a statement:
As difficult as this news is for me today, I am hopeful that no other performers have been affected. I plan on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and my fellow performers. Following that, my long-term plan is to take care of myself and my health.
Bay's previous test — which was negative — took place about a month ago, but she has done shoots since. A spokesperson for the Department of Public Health — which must be notified of industry test results from — said they "have begun an investigation consistent with routine protocol."
As for what's next, the Free Speech Coalition said it's working with a doctor affiliated with Adult Production Health and Safety Services to seek out and potentially treat all of Bay's sexual partners and those people's sexual partners and the sexual partners of those people and so on and so forth, and the coalition said the moratorium would remain until everyone associated is tested and cleared.
