Please Do Not Look The Anthropologie Model In The Eye

The model in the brand-new Anthropologie "Stitch" catalog is beautiful, but she has a serious problem: She cannot look us in the eye. Is it because she's shy? Is it because she's afraid we won't want to buy what she's wearing? Is it because she's modeling overpriced sweaters that look like they were knitted by our blind Aunt Evangeline? After the jump, we intuit her inner monologue.

in case anyone wants to actually make that chunky-knit rainbow condom sweater, instead of buying it — the pattern is in the winter 2006/7 issue of vogue knitting internationaltw. and the pattern for that twinkle sweater coat is in designer wenlan chia's book twinkle's big city knits. the rest of these kind of look like they may or may not have appeared in rowan, knitty, interweave knits, or knitscene at some point...

which is to say, speaking as a crabby, serious knitter, this new collection totally feels like it was made expressly for over-ambitious novice knitters who never finish projects but want to pretend that they actually made what they're wearing and will pay any price to make that appear to be true. yay!

also: yes, they put these on the skinniest girl ever because they WILL make you, the average woman, look fat. but hey! you'll be warm!
