Parents' Group Upset Over Scandal Sex Airing Right After Charlie Brown

Latest

The Parents Television Council is upset that ABC aired an Olivia Pope sex scene a few minutes after the end of its October 30 Halloween special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. You would’ve had to flip the channel quickly or cover your kids’ eyes to avoid the hotness, which involved Olivia getting it on (separately) with both Jake and Fitz.

Parents of the world collectively sighed, “good grief,” and PTC president Tim Winter wrote in a statement (according to The Hollywood Reporter):

“Shame on ABC for putting a peep show next to a playground. In less than 26 seconds, we were taken from the Peanuts pumpkin patch to a steamy Scandal sex scene. Twenty-six seconds, boom.”

The PTC now wants ABC to apologize. Calling it a peep show seems excessive. Those 26 seconds start off with Olivia swimming in a pool before it even gets to the sex part, which turns out to be a wet dream. The music offers context clues that, hey, it might be time to put the kids to bed, but maybe a “strong sexual content” warning would’ve been useful in this case.

Before the show started, Shonda Rhimes retweeted a joke about the transition: “The leap from Charlie Brown to the first scene of #Scandal #CloseYourEyesKiddies.” Watch the unfortunate juxtaposition below.
