Oprah Follows Up With Intervention Success Stories

Latest

The documentary series Intervention has a surprisingly high 77% success rate. Today, some of the subjects from the show who have gotten clean and stayed that, way shared their stories on Oprah.

Josh has an addiction to food and says that he was “eating [himself] to death” before his family staged his intervention that was featured on the show. Since completing rehab, he has gotten control over his addiction, and has lost 259 lbs. Part of his success, he says, is that he followed a rule in rehab that “your secrets will keep you sick,” prompting him to come out of the closet.

Jason said that he spiraled into drug addiction when he learned that the young men responsible for the massacre at Columbine High School—Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold—had specifically named him in their list of jocks and bullies who had teased them. Now that he’s sober (after kicking heroin), Josh says that he finally is able to feel emotions for the first time.
