Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Jessie J Open the VMAs With a 'Bang'

We kicked off the VMAs with a performance by Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Jessie J. Ariana started with "Break Free" before transitioning into Nicki Minaj's "Anacaonda." Because this is America, Jessie J did not perform a single but instead got "Bang Bang" started.

Notable moments include some possible sound issues during Ariana's performances and Nicki Minaj's obvious wardrobe malfunction—she was forced to literally hold her dress together for the second half of the performance.

Let this be a lesson to everyone that this is what happens when you only allow 25 seconds for a wardrobe change.
