A nurse who snapped a photo of an unconscious man’s penis has voluntarily surrendered her license. Kristen Johnson, 27, was convicted in November of disseminating “unlawful surveillance photos,” and gave up her license as part of a deal to avoid felony charges.
Syracuse.com reports that Johnson, 27, who worked at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, gave up her license and agreed to three years’ probation. She was arrested in May 2015 after a nine-month investigation in which police found she’d photographed the unconscious male patient’s penis. She also used her iPhone to take video of “another nurse cleaning an incapacitated female patient’s gastrointestinal blood clot,” according to the paper. Compounding an already criminally terrible idea, she then sent both the photo and video to her coworkers.
The New York State Education Board accused Johnson of “moral unfitness to practice,” which she didn’t contest. State records show Johnson got her license in 2009. The Onondaga County District Attorney’s office said in 2015 that the patients Johnson photographed had been identified and notified.
