Selena Gomez is set to receive her first major exec producing credit with a new Netflix series called 13 Reasons Why, based on a 2007 young adult novel by Jay Asher. The 13-episode series is about a high school student named Hannah Baker who commits suicide and leaves a box of cassette tapes to a classmate.
On the tapes, which are mailed with instructions to pass along from one student to another, Hannah explains to twelve peers how they each played a role in her death, by giving thirteen reasons explaining why she took her life.
Sounds dark. According to Deadline, Gomez will not be starring in the series, but has been keeping busy nevertheless. Her second studio album, Revival, was released earlier this month and she recently wrapped four films, including In Dubious Battle, The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving, The Big Short and Neighbors 2.
