Mitt Romney, Prankster, Will Punk You About Firing the Maids

Mittens Mildegard Romnoneybags IV is running for President and against his own reputation for acting like a shell-shocked alien who has just been beamed from a planet made of gold in the year 3000. To combat this unfortunate reputation for acting stilted and robotic, his campaign has launched an offensive where they tell everyone what a hilarious practical joker Mitt Romney is. One time, for example, he convinced a staffer that he'd had a hotel chambermaid fired! Hilarious!

The "guess you had to be there" prank happened when Romney was governor of Massachusetts, one of the state troopers assigned to protect him made like a mischievous summer camper and short sheeted the bed where Romney was to lay his Reaganesque head. In response, Romney typed up a letter on hotel letterhead that made it look like hotel management had been contacted over the incident and blamed one of the maids, which they subsequently fired. Except since everything Romney does seems a little off, the letter used the word "chambermaid."

Well, that freaked the state trooper right out, and he went white as a sheet. Meanwhile, it was a joke! His juvenile actions hadn't actually led to the dismissal of a domestic worker in a hotel; the trooper had just been Punk'd by Romney. GOPunk'd, if you will.

With that sort of sophisticated comedic touch at his disposal, I bet that on April Fools Day, Mitt Romney's facebook status announces that he's pregnant.

Technically, chambermaid is the correct title for someone who cares for rooms in a hotel.

chambermaid [ˈtʃeɪmbəˌmeɪd]

a woman or girl employed to clean and tidy bedrooms, now chiefly in hotels
