The spirit of talented designer L'Wren Scott lives on: her partner of 13 years, Mick Jagger, has established a scholarship in her name, which will cover the cost of tuition and living expenses at London's Central Saint Martins University.

The late designer, who was known for evocative, feminine silhouettes and a favorite among the A-list crowd, shocked the fashion world last spring, when she committed suicide amidst rumors that her eponymous label was $7 million in debt and in danger of shutting its doors.

Additional details about the fund aren't yet available, though its fashion course director, Fabio Piras, said he's "very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package."

This is very kind of Mick and a lovely way to honor L'Wren. He is financially savvy and a scholarship is a way to help someone else stay out of debt.

As much as I respect Mick's musical talent and financial sense, though, I have a mental block about believing he's ever really loved a woman. Lust, affection, sure, but an equal partnership? I just can't imagine it. I wonder what L'Wren felt about that, or how much she was able to rely on their relationship. (This should NOT be construed as blaming Mick for her death. Not at all. It's just sad.)
