Mexican American Author Reyna Grande On Living in the Hyphens

In Depth

In Reyna Grande’s latest memoir, A Dream Called Home, the author recalls her experience attending college as a Mexican immigrant who was simultaneously growing into her own womanhood. Not only did Grande’s experiences give her memoir an honest and captivating tone, they shaped the ways in which she approached global affairs and immigration. Since then, she has used her platform to speak out on not only reforming immigration policies, but also taking a deeper look at the conditions that force people to leave their homes in the first place—and thinking about what we can do to identify and fix the root of the problem. Last month, Grande visited the Jezebel office to elaborate more on her book and her vision; watch the video above.
