@whynotshesaid: I got a kitten from the pound when I was in college. After happily paying the $60 fee to cover his shots and other needs, my roommate and I spent 4 sleepless days playing with him, potty-training and making sure we were good 19 year-old mommies.

One the 4th night I returned to the apt to find my roommate in hysterics, her parents en route to our place from an hour away (this was before the wide-spead use of cell phones so should couldn't call me). She had found him on the sofa, mouth open, paws in the air, stiff and hard.

I was so pissed that I put him in a shoebox and returned him to the pound the next day. That's when they told me that all of his littermates had died the night before. I demanded a refund. Yes I'm cheap, but $60 for a defective kitty? No thank you.
