MasterCard customers should ready their best duck faces and perfect their skinny arms. The credit card company is launching an anti-identity theft initiative allowing people to use #selfies instead of passwords.


New York reports that “the new biometric technology requires you to blink while you take your selfie to demonstrate ‘proof of life.’” There’s no word on whether you’ll be permitted to choose a more flattering filter or add some Snapchat-esque scrawl (O HAI MASTERCARD). But to all those among us who are selfie-disinclined, bear in mind that you can use your fingerprint in lieu of a picture.

But as for me, I’ll be using this as an excuse to purchase a few new shades of lipstick. All selfies must be treated equally, regardless of their purpose.
