Man Faces Charges After Proposing to Girlfriend on Major Freeway

Latest

We’ve seen a lot of outrageous wedding proposals in 2015. Ones that involved marching bands, Harry Potter, proposing at another person’s wedding and a particularly creepy proposal that required elaborate video editing. Just when we thought we were done with them for the year, one man decided to propose to his girlfriend using a major Texas freeway as the stage to declare his love.

24-year-old Vidal Valladares proposed to Michelle Wycoff by convincing his friends to block multiple lanes of traffic on Interstate 45, near downtown Houston. Why a goddamn freeway of all places? According to the Chronicle, Valladares said it was one of his boo’s favorite spots. Couldn’t he have picked somewhere else? Now, Valladares has been charged with a class b misdemeanor for obstruction of highway, ABC 13 reports.

Valladares feels bad about his romantic gesture. “I’m wanting to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems,” he told the station. “That wasn’t my intention in the beginning. I just wanted to do something different.”

Sigh. Let’s stop with these crazy public proposals for 2016. How about a nice, intimate moment between two people for once? It wasn’t much of an original idea, anyway.
