Madonna’s Gay Brother Defends Kim Davis

Latest

Christopher Ciccone, Madonna’s brother, has defended Kim Davis, saying she “deserves as much support as you would give a Muslim woman who insisted on covering her face,” due to her religious freedom. In a Facebook post, Ciccone, who is openly gay, said, “selective shaming and bullying corrupts a democracy,” while adding “freedom of press, speech and religion give it strength.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ciccone described Davis as a civil servant who is required to follow federal law, but questioned, “Why should she, when DOJ and other civil authorities don’t follow federal law when they choose not to.” Ciccone then calls the gay community “sore winners.” He ends his rant by saying, “The rights we have all fought for, mean nothing, if we deny her hers.”

Meanwhile, a crowd of 300 gathered at the Grayson, Kentucky jail this weekend in support of Davis, where she is currently serving time for refusing a judge’s order to issue gay marriage licenses.
