Lucia Moses of MediaWeek had a "60 second interview" with Cindi Leive, editor-in-chief of Glamour. Ms. Leive talked about hiring and training staff as magazines become multiplatform brands; product placement versus regular advertising pages; and the 2007 Glamour Woman of The Year Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Toni Morrison. Ms. Leive says Ms. Morrison is a "personal hero" of hers. "I remember reading The Bluest Eye in high school and being totally blown away by it. I've been trying to get her for the past six or seven years and her schedule was finally cleared," she says. Interesting choice, since a Glamour editor recently pronounced dreadlocks as inappropriate! [MediaWeek]
Luckily Toni Morrison is too brilliant to ever have to dress "appropriately" for work. Ya for writers and their pjs! And, I also wonder if Ms. Morrison actually knows about that remark, because if she did, I bet she wouldn't be so keen on participating, at least not without a few words of education first!
