Today in extreme bummers: a group of friends vacationing just south of Paris found a rotting corpse on the property they rented through Airbnb.
Intended as a party weekend in Palaiseau, the grim discovery of a “decomposing body of a woman in the garden” altered the guests’ itinerary—by Sunday, February 28, they’d been taken in for questioning by the police. And though an autopsy has not yet been performed, investigators suspect foul play. From the Guardian:
“The woman’s body was found ‘hunched in a dug-out area, her head against the ground, covered in branches and surrounded by wood stumps,’ said the source.
She was dressed, but not wearing shoes and had ‘a ring with a large stone’ on her finger. No identifying documents were found with the body.”
Significant decomposition made it impossible to determine the woman’s cause of death, but the police are investigating the case.
