Fabric alchemists Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler presented their spring 2014 collection today as part of New York Fashion Week, showcasing their sorcery well. On the runway appeared a sea of sheer crepe pants, shimmery Lurex knit evening dresses, silvery pleated skirts, metallic crop tops, and suede gowns.

The duo was apparently inspired by 70s interiors, which shows most clearly in their structured, geometric jackets. In several of these looks, I am getting "power mermaid" vibes, but that's possibly just a projection of my own tortured psyche.

Have a look at the collection, below:

Love the tanks from the last two sets, the ones where the fabric criss-crosses the chest, worn with midi skirts banded right on the waist. It's sexy without being all BOOBS and ASS. Instead it's all shoulders, upper midriff, ankle — more interesting and reasonably accessible.
