Look at This Big Beautiful Pink Diamond

Latest

Feast your eyes upon almost 19 karats of nearly flawless diamond. It’s very shiny.

The Associated Press said that Christie’s is auctioning off this glittering behemoth, which they expect to go for a casual $30 million to $50 million. Why? Well: “The stone once belonged to the Oppenheimer diamond family, and Christie’s says it qualifies as a Type IIa diamond — the most chemically pure stones with little if any nitrogen. It says fancy vivid pink diamonds over 10 carats are ‘virtually unheard of’ in salesrooms.” They’ve dubbed it the “Pink Legacy,” which is both incredibly tacky and vaguely raunchy.

It’s part of a larger auction literally just billed as “Magnificent Jewels.” Truth in advertising, I guess!
