Eli Manning. Rihanna. Shy Ronnie. Okay, I don't actually know about Shy Ronnie, but it's Cinco de Mayo and Derby Day and there's a Supermoon... I just feel like something special is going to happen. And if I'm wrong, we always have wine and popcorn and the infinite amusement one finds in watching athletes try to be comedians. Cringes ahoy.
So, I picked up some sci-fi due to having free time for the first time in years (a week vacation that was actually spent relaxing!).
I finished I, Robot in all of three days, loved it. I want to read more of the Asimovian "Robot" stories now.
That said, I'm so far immensely disappointed with Hyperion. Especially after reading about Dan Simmons' views on things.
Any sci-fi readers here? I realize IO9 is probably the "right" site for this, but I don't comment there and frankly, I trust people here more than the other Gawker sites to offer decent suggestions. I'd like sci-fi that actually offers interesting characters that aren't all white men. Ideas?
