Lightning Strike Photobombs Couple's Vacation Selfie

Latest

A couple on vacation captured the moment lightning hit dangerously close to them as they tried to take a selfie.

Selfies can be lots of things. They can be pure, giddy fun. They can be death-defying. They can be really poorly advised. This particular selfie taken by Luis Morales Fukutake and his girlfriend during a storm near Cancun, Mexico is just plain terrifying. Sure, this could totally be fake, evidenced by the weird way he randomly references GoPro in his statement to the media about the video. But then again if I had a GoPro I would probably mention it every chance I had. “Yeah, I’m going to head over to Jack-in-the-Box for dinner. Not getting anything for my GoPro. Because, you know, it’s not an actual living thing that needs to eat, it’s just a totally awesome fucking camera.”

In other lightning-related news, nine people were injured during a rare lightning strike in Venice Beach on Sunday, according to CNN. To summarize this post, never ever leave your house again and always make sure to wear your tinfoil hat. Excuse me while I go cry in my basement for the next few hours.
