Sorry for the buzzkill, but we can’t honor International Women’s Day without thinking about how fucking far we still have to go in practically every department. (Related: this exists.)

Reuters has a great post on some of the various countries that have implemented voluntary or mandatory minimums for the percentage of women in government. There are pros and cons to gender quotas; critics say they delegitimize female politicians, while supporters say they’re absolutely necessary, given that only one in five parliamentarians worldwide are women.
