Lady Gaga Allegedly Stole Her Drag Persona From Annie Lennox

As it turns out, Lady Gaga didn’t plagiarize her Joe Calderone character from Bob Dylan … it was Annie Lennox. Kelly Osbourne brought this shocking thievery to light when she Tweeted, “I love lady gaga but I wish she would start giving credit where credit is due!” and linked to a performance by Annie Lennox at the 1984 Grammys.

Though Lennox seemed to be channeling Elvis and didn’t have a creepy leer like Calderone, it’s pretty obvious that Gaga stole the idea from an awards show that aired two years before she was born. Where else would she come up with the idea of a woman dressing like a man?
