Justin Bieber Wants You to Know He Really Gets This Love Thing

Oh, Justin. His breakup with Selena Remember When She Left Spring Breakers Early? Gomez has apparently left him so wounded that he’s decided to try to rival the popularity of #throwbackthursday and #womancrushwednesday (yes, a thing; no, not a good thing) with #musicmondays. More upsetting: such a tactic seems to be working!

Late Sunday night, Bieber dropped his new track “All That Matters.” It is about a girl who matters a lot to him.

Bieber then tweeted a ~~diary entry his therapist had asked him to write~~ description of what the song is about [emphasis ours]:

The lyrics of this song are pretty self explanatory – when you fall in love with someone, that someone can make you feel whole. I feel like anyone who has been in love knows what I mean. The song conveys that being in love is one of the greatest feelings on earth. Love is all that matters. But the void you feel when that love goes away is gut-wrenching. I worked so hard on this song in the studio – trying to put that feeling into music was extremely important to me. I’m happy to share it with you. -JB

Lyrics to “All That Matters” include “Yeah, yeah, what’s a king bed without a queen/There ain’t no ‘I’ in team/You make me complete/You’re all that matters to me.” It appears to fondly recall, in the present tense, a relationship that means a great deal to the artist. Unfortunately, we know that this is some “hindsight is 20/20” bullshit because Selena is gone and dedicating her time to performing covers of songs by pop stars more famous than she.

“Heartbreaker,” Bieber’s first #musicmondays contribution from last week was much more honest and angry than “All That Matters”:

Of the song, Bieber wrote:

It’s a song for people going through a heartbreak – like I was when I wrote it. It means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am going through, with my fans. I’m very proud of this song and I hope it give [sic] my fans some insight into my heart. – JB

Lyrics include “You say that you don’t wanna talk but it’s cool/I’ve been thinking about you all day long, hoping you pick up your phone.” As if you actually call people and aren’t a serial texter Justin!
