Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is Recovering From a Heart Procedure

Supreme Court Justice and living national treasure Ruth Bader Ginsburg is currently in the hospital after receiving a stent in one of her coronary arteries last night. But before you burst into tears (like I did): the heart procedure is relatively routine, and the Notorious RBG will likely be out of the hospital in 48 hours.

Here’s the full official release, from the Supreme Court.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent a coronary catheterization this morning at MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center to place a stent in her right coronary artery. The coronary blockage was discovered after Justice Ginsburg experienced discomfort during routine exercise last night and was taken to the hospital. She is resting comfortably and is expected to be discharged within the next 48 hours.

Get well soon, RBG.

[Update: A previous version of this post’s headline mischaracterized her heart procedure as occurring “last night.” She was taken to the hospital last night, but the procedure was this morning.]
