It's been a helluva year for Jennifer Lawrence. She won a Golden Globe for American Hustle, she was in two box office smashin' movies, and she's landed a Billboard chart hit with the
club banger solemn ballad "Hanging Tree." And she's the top grossing actress in Hollywood for 2014.
Forbes has calculated the highest grossing actors (by adding up global box office numbers from various stars' movies in 2014). Law's movies have grossed $1.4 billion at the box office, although Mockingjay is still bringing in the cash.
Following Lawrence is Chris Pratt, grossing $1.2 billion between Guardians of the Galaxy and The Lego Movie. Two unlikely hits for an unlikely (but also totally likely) star. Behind Pratt is Scarlett Johansson (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Lucy, Under the Skin), with $1.18 billion, then Mark Wahlberg (Transformers), then Chris Evans (Captain America: TWS).
Moral of the story? Don't ever, ever involve yourself in original stories. Be in a franchise hit based on comics, books, or TV shows, and you're good to go.
