It's Official: Jenny McCarthy Is Your New View Co-Host

Latest

Despite the fact that she’s got her own low-rated VH1 show to devote her time to, vaccination expert Jenny McCarthy will indeed be joining the ladies of The View in September at the roundtable, Barbara Walters announced this morning on the show.

Walters started the episode off calling it a very important day, first mentioning that the show would be largely devoted to the Trayvon Martin trial, but next allowing for a celebratory applause from the audience after her brief statement that McCarthy would be the latest host of the show, replacing Joy Behar. Fantastic juxtaposition.

“We love her because she’s fun and she’s uninhibited and she’s of course opinionated enough to help us bring the latest chapter in The View, said Walters of McCarthy.

In a statement, McCarthy said:

I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Barbara and the other amazing women at the table. I’d like to thank ABC for this great opportunity. I’d also like to give a big thank you to Vh1 for their support and for allowing me to fulfill this lifelong dream. I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off.

In a “piece” from her highly journalistic column in the Chicago Sun-Times, McCarthy implied that she wouldn’t be doing her VH1 show anymore, adding:

I will be doing everything I can to provoke conversation, make you think, make you laugh and maybe even spill the beans on what goes on backstage (like if I accidentally barge into Bradley Cooper’s dressing room in a towel).
I might be moving from late night to daytime, but I’m just as fun with a mimosa as I am with a martini. I look forward to spiking your morning coffee on “The View” for years to come.
