In the Trailer for The Boy, a Nanny Is Hired to Babysit a Terrifying Life-Size Porcelain Doll

Latest

Dolls are already creepy—even when they’re not lifelike versions of a deceased child whose parents behave as though it were real.

In the upcoming thriller, The Boy, Lauren Cohan of The Walking Dead stars as Greta, an American woman hired to work as a nanny for a married couple living in a rural part of England. When she arrives, her new employers introduce her to her charge—Brahms, a life-size porcelain doll. Their real son passed away years prior. Greta laughs and they glower. “Be good to him and he will be good to you,” the husband warns. She’s like, “What the F did I get myself into?”

The husband and wife peace out and Greta is left with a specific list of instructions she must follow, such as, “Don’t cover his face” and “Never leave him alone.” When she begins to violate the rules, spooky shit starts happening. Brahms appears to be alive! Greta then must figure out the truth behind this demonic doll-boy.

The film is directed by William Brent Bell, who also did the 2012 exorcism thriller, The Devil Inside. The Boy opens on January 22, 2016.
