I'm Sure She'd Make a Really Excellent Mother: Alanis Morissette Endorses Attachment Parenting

In shocking "Hey, Not Everybody Raises Their Kids How I Want to Raise My Kids" news, Alanis Morissette is the most recent celebrity to endorse attachment parenting, saying that she will breastfeed her 17 month-old son as long for as long as he continues to want to be breastfed. Additionally, she practices a skin-on-skin philosophy in which she or her husband are in near-constant physical contact with their baby, even sharing a family bed. And how does that effect the intimacy of her marriage? Not at all, apparently. Morissette says:

"To be totally transparent, after a baby is born, hormonally, physiologically, that's not necessarily the time the woman is moving toward low-cut dresses and wanting to get pregnant again."

Overall, Morissette seems fairly down to Earth about her philosophy and recognizes that it's up to the parents to decide what is best for their child. She also admits that attachment parenting is a philosophy much more in reach to some (those with funds) than it is to others:

"I am in a priviliged position where I can afford the time and pay for the resources that would support this kind of lifestyle."

In the end, we're all just trying to fuck up our kids the least that we can. Best of luck to her.

P.S. Remember this? Sigh.

I figure if I ever nurse a baby, as soon as he/she starts growing TEETH, that's it. As soon as the baby can bite, no more nipple for him/her. I think it's nature's way of saying: you can chew, eat some solid food now, kid.
