Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader Reunite as Siblings in The Skeleton Twins

Latest

Whenever you pair Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader up on screen, something good is going to happen. It was true for Saturday Night Live where they brought a fun and sparkly energy to even their weakest bits, it was true in Adventureland where they played the husband/wife owners of an amusement park, and — if the pattern holds — it will be true when they play siblings in the upcoming dramatic feature The Skeleton Twins.

In the film, Wiig and Hader play estranged twins who are reunited by near-tragedy after decade apart . Hader’s character is a failed actor and Wiig’s is a dental hygienist who is trying to have a baby with her husband (Luke Wilson), but, at the same time, is not fully content in her relationship and where her future seems to be headed.

Based on the trailer, The Skeleton Twins looks sweet, funny, sad and maybe worth seeing based on the “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” lip sync alone. And if you happen to be playing Indie Film Bingo, please check your boards for “despondent middle class white family,” “straight actor playing gay brother,” “recognizable mainstream TV/movie star wearing glasses to show off cred” and “dance routine to classic rock number.”
