How Delicious!: Ruth Reichl Pens Her First Novel

Although the former New York Times restaurant critic has penned several non-fiction books about her eating adventures, this is her first foray into fiction.

Random House acquired “Delicious!,” Reichl’s debut novel, and it’s set for release in May 2014.

According to the New York Times:

The novel, set in the food world, tells the story of “a young woman who discovers a cache of secret letters written by a girl during World War II and, inspired by them, finally comes to terms with her own family’s tragedy,” Random House said.

“I’m addicted to fiction, and I’ve always wanted to write a novel,” Ms. Reichl said in a statement. Random House has also acquired two additional novels by Ms. Reichl.

Susan Kamil, the publisher of Random House, said Reichl is a “born storyteller”, and that her novel is “an absolutely fabulous work of fiction.” I can’t wait to eat it up! With my eyes! I apologize!
