Holy Crap, Coachella Cost Cardi B a Ton of Money

CelebritiesDirt Bag

Cardi B put on a spectacular Coachella set Sunday evening, one second only to Beyoncé’s, and, I mean, listen, there’s no human on Earth that can or should top #Beychella. But it’s a really good thing the show went off without a hitch, because apparently it cost Cardi B an insane amount of money to perform, so I guess it’s good I’ll never be famous.

Digital Music News did the math and discovered Cardi B could have sunk as much as $460,000 (or more!) into both last weekend’s and next weekend’s Coachella performances. According to an interview she gave Sirius XM last week, she’s being paid $70K for each one, but the stage costs $300,000 per show to set up, and the festival’s not footing the bill. “When I was talking to my [manager], he was like, ‘Man, you don’t understand, we’re putting $600,000 on that stage set,” Cardi B told Sirus XM, adding, “And then it’s like, I have to invest so much money on my stage set, my own money that I gotta go to Wells Fargo and write a check that it’s crazy. Like, almost $300,000 [per weekend].”

On the one hand, Cardi B’s set is sick as hell. It is a good investment. I would literally raise my family in it. On the other hand, the stage set cost about four times as much as Cardi B got paid. This, per Stereogum, is in part because when the festival booked her a while back, she wasn’t a superstar prophet with a #1 debut album, though I feel like a festival that charges $400 for the most barebones ticket could maybe shell out a little bit more for Cardi? But what do I know. Either way, everyone’s dealing with at least three more zeroes than I can even contemplate at this very moment, but luckily Invasion of Privacy moved 255,000 units this week, so I doubt Cardi B’s worried.

I have never in my life felt older than I do as I type this sentence, but: Bhad Bhabie and Whoah Vicky, two people who are definitely real and potentially “famous,” got into a fight.

Here they are, fighting:

According to Perez Hilton, Whoah Vicky used a racial slur to describe one of Bhad Bhabie’s friends, and so Bhad Bhabie hit Whoah Vicky in the head. This was some sort of planned encounter culminating from a few weeks of Instagram fighting, and then they turned to real fighting. Now, it seems the Instagram fighting is back on, and Perez says the drama is “To be continued…,” but actually I will now close my laptop and walk away.
