High School Closed After Weird YouTube Threats

Latest

Administrators at Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, CA cancelled classes today after a student threatened the school in a bizarre YouTube video. The teenage internet vigilante has now been arrested.

According to the Daily Breeze, the video “included an animated face of an evil wizard with a mustache and goatee” (not pictured). The student delivered his creepy message through voice distortion software. Reporter Larry Altman renders it as follows:

Dear brothers and sisters of Bishop Montgomery. Recently our beloved friend [inaudible] was expelled, and so we are taking action. We are the resistance. It will be in three days of time. Bishop Montgomery shall fall. It shall decline. It shall never be the same. It will bounce, bounce, bounce to motherf——— hell and beyond […] Witchcraft and wizardry, our wands cut deep. We are your (inaudible). Catholics are our sheep and so on. […] We are anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. Expect us.

School officials learned of the video on Saturday and, despite the nonspecific nature of the threat, chose to close the school today (it will reopen tomorrow). Says Sgt. Steven Jenkinson, “From that point, our detectives started investigating and, through their investigation, which involved the FBI to some degree, a 16-year old sophomore was identified as a suspect and arrested.” The suspect, whose name has not been released, has been charged with making criminal threats, and taken to juvenile hall. The “resistance” language is reminiscent of Occupy Wall Street, but the video’s maker needs to learn that nonviolent protest doesn’t include threatening to cut his school with a wizard wand.
