Herpes: It may actually not be so whatevs anymore. Researchers at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine believe that the herpes virus could potentially help fight breast cancer. There's a big scientific explanation about why it's beneficial (something to do with cell replication and the immune system) that you can read about here, but essentially, it says that the herpes virus can be used to kill tumors. There's also potential for it to work as a vaccine. But don't worry, people treated with the herpes-cancer-killer wouldn't actually contract the virus. [Science Daily]

herpes is not dangerous, so it is NOT irresponsible to say that it's not a big deal. IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL. is chicken pox a big deal? they are viruses within the same family. herpes is just chicken pox on your genitals (or mouth). but actually chicken pox is more dangerous, in that it could get into your lungs or some shit and kill you. herpes can't. it's just a skin blemish. other than it being slightly uncomfortable, and putting you out of commission, sex wise, for a week, it has NO effects on your body. it just has a stigma attached to it that is a complete social construct.
