Here's your first peek at Equals, Kristen Stewart's upcoming "sci-fi romance" costarring Nicholas Hoult. The relationship rumors should practically start themselves.

The photo, which comes via The Hollywood Reporter, reveals nothing but the fact that Kristen Stewart looks good in a nice, crisp blouse and Hollywood still defaults to Minority Report blue for dystopias. The synopsis:

The film is set in the future, when emotions are a thing of the past and a new breed of humans called Equals live in harmony. But eventually a disease starts activating emotions in its victims, who are then sent away and never heard from again. Silas (Hoult) becomes infected, and realizes Nia (Stewart) has emotions too, but is able to hide them. They must team up to escape their surroundings in order to survive.

Back in January, Stewart said it was kinda sorta an updated version of the 1956 adaptation of George Orwell's 1984. (Sounds more like The Giver to me.) If somebody's got contact information for the ghost of George Orwell, please do put me in touch.

For years, everyone in the world has misunderstood Kristen Stewart's compressed emotional range. They thought it meant she was a limited actress; it means nothing of the kind. She is John Wayne being forced to play the Maureen O'Hara character. Give her a rail to lean against during a sunset, a military jacket, a toothpick to chew on, and something to squint her eyes against lazily in the distance, and her guardedness will be transformed from unsuccessful femininity to The Great American Male. Kristen Stewart is a goddamn cowboy.
