Here's the Trailer for the Marilyn Monroe Mini-Series No One Needed

Latest

Countless movies, television shows and theatrical productions have studiously depicted the life of actress and icon Marilyn Monroe, and yet, one outlet hadn’t yet done so, and it was the most fitting one of all: Lifetime. Thank god they’ve changed their mind, you know?

The mini-series The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe stars Kelli Garner as Marilyn, joined by Jeffrey Dean Morgan as her husband Joe DiMaggio and Susan Sarandon as Marilyn’s mother—basically, all people too good to be in this production, which is based off the book, also titled The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, by J. Randy Taraborrelli (a not very well-reviewed biography, but a best-seller nonetheless). It fits nicely into Lifetime’s recent push for biopic films; they even managed to snag the rights to Grace of Monaco, which premiered at Cannes but will be premiering in the U.S. on Lifetime on May 25.

Wondering how it came to pass? The Hollywood Reporter has those shocking details for you:

The mini hails from Asylum Entertainment, the production company behind Lifetime’s June Carter Cash biopic Ring of Fire and Reelz Channel’s ratings hit The Kennedys.

I take it all back! It’ll be great!

I didn’t know Marilyn, but since everyone else seems hellbent on deciding what she felt about things and why, I’m going to throw it out there that even she would have thought we’d gone too far with worshipping her.

Or not.
