Here's Gwen Stefani's So-Called Divorce Song, 'Used To Love You'

Latest

During a performance last night at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom, Gwen Stefani debuted her newest single, “Used To Love You.” Many are speculating that the ballad was inspired by her recent divorce from Gavin Rossdale. The couple was married for 13 years and announced their separation in September.

Prior to debuting the song, Stefani told the audience that she wanted to “share a song that I wrote recently.” She sings in the chorus: “I don’t know why I cry. But I think it’s cause I remember for the first time. Since I hated you. That I used to love you.”

Rolling Stone reports that Stefani had been working on a new album before announcing her divorce. That LP featured collaborations with Calvin Harris, Charli XCX and Pharrell, but “it’s unclear whether work continues on that material or Stefani is starting anew post-breakup.”
