Here Are Your New Hamilton Leads

July 9 is the final day to see Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Lin-Manuel Miranda in their original roles in Hamilton. But the show must go on! It’s making a lot of money.

The Hollywood Reporter announces two new faces taking the reins. Lexi Lawson will be the new Eliza Hamilton, Alexander’s wife. Lawson is making her Broadway debut with the role, but has previously appeared on national tours of In the Heights and Rent.

Brandon Victor Dixon will be stepping in as Aaron Burr, and is well-known on Broadway after starring in Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed. Dixon’s show landed 10 Tony nominations but Hamilton snatched them all. Shuffle Along abruptly announced it would be closing on July 24.

Taking over for Miranda is Javier Munoz, who has been an alternate on the show for some time. Taking over his spot is Michael Luwoye, also making a Broadway debut, who will perform once a week.
