An endangered Brazilian ocelot kitten was born at the Louisville Zoo in September. There are only 26 Brazilian ocelots in American Zoo and Aquarium Association institutions nationwide. The kitten, who started exploring when he was 2 days old — before his eyes opened — is named "El Conquistador". We love him. [Science Daily]

man, i always wanted to work at the zoo. my parents were odd, and took us to the bronx zoo like, every other week when we were kids. @ciaomanhattan: my grandma had an ocelot coat back in the 30's. its hanging in my mom's closet right now. cruel, sure. but insanely soft. and i believe there are laws in place at the moment that bar us from selling it. i really, really want it.
