Halle Berry Files for Divorce from Olivier Martinez

TMZ reports that Halle Berry has filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Olivier Martinez, citing our old friend “irreconcilable differences.”

They have one child, Maceo, who is 2 years old; according to TMZ, Berry is not asking for any particular custody arrangement, but rather “what is in ‘the best interests of the child.’” Berry has another daughter, Nahla, 7, with ex Gabriel Aubry, and that split remains extremely contentious. Their custody dispute and child support battle has lasted over 4 years, and in 2012 Aubry obtained a restraining order against Martinez for slamming his head into a concrete driveway.

More recently, this August, Martinez slammed a baby car seat into an airport employee at LAX (Martinez did not face charges). According to a TMZ source, “They’re just very, very different people. He’s a very macho guy, and things just didn’t jive.”

Rumors have been swirling for months that divorce was imminent for the pair, especially after Berry was seen without her engagement ring in August. The couple released a statement, via People:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”
