Groundbreaking MRI Shows Childbirth From The Inside

For the first time ever, a woman gave birth inside an MRI scanner, allowing doctors to watch the movement through the birth canal from beginning to end. Here’s a video with images throughout the process.

Doctors at Berlin’s Charite hospital built an open MRI machine to enable cross-section images of birth. They hope to better understand why some women need Caesareans when the baby can’t progress through the canal.
