Feel-good alert! Ted Williams, the down-on-his-luck golden voice who became an overnight viral sensation, announced on a morning radio program, "The Cleveland Cavaliers just offered me a full-time job and a house! A house! A house!"
My Dad is a veteran DJ and voice announcer and I forwarded him these videos yesterday, and he's been all over this story ever since.
I was talking to someone on FB and they were kind of complaining that 'oh, this'll go the way of Antoine Dodson' like that's a bad thing, and I had to tell him that I think any situation in which somebody who is down on their luck has an opportunity to rise higher, I'm okay with that. Sometimes the internet hive mind does good. And these people don't owe us a damn thing. We help them because helping people is good. It doesn't matter if they then exploit their fame, or do things with their money we don't like, or whatever - you help because it is the right thing to do. The rest is up to them.
This guy is a tremendous talent and I'm just so happy he's got a second chance.
