Girls Season 4 Details Leaked via a Ride on the Subway

Latest

There’s been much speculation about how Season 4 of the hit HBO series Girls will shake out now that Hannah has been accepted into the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. But new rumors about Hannah’s fate have been confirmed through a much-beloved sleuthing technique called “reading over the shoulder of a casting director with the script for the show on the subway.”

Though the University of Iowa has not cooperated with requests from Girls to film on its campus, director Jesse Peretz told Vulture that the show would go to Iowa to “shoot around campus” anyway.

“Most of the scenes don’t even take place on campus,” Peretz said. “So we’ll probably cheat some other campus for the campus. Some of it will be Iowa. A little more than a smidge.” This weekend it looked like some of the non-smidge scenes were being filmed at a Ditmas Park home substituting as a pretend University of Iowa off-campus house.

Other gossip about this season comes by way of casting director Tony Behringer, who was spotted reading a Girls script on the subway with a “giant watermark” of his name on it. A source who saw Behringer with the script told Page Six that things get dark in Girls Season 4:

“We all know in the Season 3 finale that Lena’s character gets into Iowa, but we didn’t know if she’d really go,” said one source who saw the script and confirmed that scenes next season are set in Iowa.
“In one of the scenes, Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) are FaceTiming with Hannah (Dunham), and they’re in New York while she’s living in Iowa City.”

FaceTime. These relationships are truly being tested.
