France Lets Parents Give Baby Vampire Name

The French are notoriously uptight about what one can and cannot name their baby, but they've decided to let one newborn keep his name, even though his parents heard it on an American show aimed at teenagers. In November Lionel and Blandine Defontaine dubbed their boy "Daemon" after the character Damon on The Vampire Diaries. The "e" was added to make the name sound more French, and it seems that was enough to convince the court. They may have let it slide this time, but don't think you can name your baby Pilot Inspektoré and get away with it.

A fellow I knew from my hometown named one of his sons Pike...from Buffy the Vampire Slayer ..he didn't even skip a beat when we informed him that the name of the character was actually Spike. His theory was when his child was grown and applying for jobs, the employers would be sifting through all the resume's of David's, Steven's, Mike's etc and come to Pike and think..."hmmm I wonder what a Pike looks like? I think I might get him in for an interview." Unfortunately if young Pike grows up to be just like his ole' Dad, I doubt he will ever see many interviews, let alone apply for many jobs.
